EdwinSoft’s BookmarkDemon – Bookmark Demon

I’m sure you have heard all the buzz about social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is one of the fastest ways to drive hordes of targeted traffic to your site.

With social bookmarking, I was able to increase my Adsense Income by 50%. All I did was place some tags on my webpages and bookmark them to the major social bookmarking sites.

But recently I met with a problem. I kept building so many webpages that I found it very time consuming to manually bookmark them. As a solution, I bought some social bookmarking automation softwares. Now, these worked very well, but there is one issue. They are too expensive! Some almost sucked me to the bone with their monthly fees.

As you can see, the ridiculous pricing of these softwares have made them beyond the reach of most people. Many are forced to do the painful job of bookmarking their sites manually.

After months of research, I finally found the software that I was looking for.

One that -
- bookmark to at least 20 major bookmarking sites
- supports adding unlimited scuttle bookmarking sites
- has no monthly fees
- free updates

I was so excited when I put this software to work! Interestingly, I quadrupled my Adsense income in a month. I also see a huge jump in my search engine’s ranking. The amount of traffic coming to my site was amazing.

And the best part – it’s not $297, or $197…not even.., I will let you just go to the page and see…

Adding an Extra Hard Drive to Your Computer could be done Externally

May 12, 2008 in Computer

Adding an Extra Hard Drive to Your Computer could be done Externally

If you need more storage space on your computer, you could add a new hard drive to it. Before you start the process, you must do a little bit of research inside the computer, to find out for yourself how difficult or easy it will be for you to install the extra hard drive. Of course you need to know, first of all, what kind of drive you need before you buy it. Read through the computer’s manuals, or you can just open the machine case and have a look into it.

Firstly, find out how many hard disk drives already exist in the machine. Most of the machines have only one, and hence it is relatively easy to install another one. You will find the optical drive for the CD or DVD, maybe a floppy disk drive and the single hard disk drive. If you do not know what the hard drive looks like, look at the photos and diagrams in the manual.

The cable system is very important when adding an extra drive to the computer. There are two common cable systems used to connect drives to the motherboard. One system includes the IDE drives, which are also known as PATA or Parallel ATA. These cables are flat or thick and are as wide as your finger.

The other system has the SATA drives or the Serial ATA drives. For this the cables are thin and are about the diameter of a pencil. By looking at the cables, you should know which of these cables have to be bought for installing your extra hard drive.

It is also possible that your computer has SCSI hard drives, for which you need SCSI cables. The common and mass-market computers will generally have the PATA or the SATA drives.

But if your machine already has two drives, then it is a little difficult to install a third one. Check out whether there is space for a third drive and if there is no more space left inside the cage, just add an external drive.

An external enclosure system is probably the easiest way to add an extra hard drive to your computer. The system is fairly simple because here a standard hard drive is put into a desk-friendly case and then plugged into your computer via USB or FireWire. After you format your new hard drive, it immediately registers as an extra drive on your computer. Now you can perform normal actions like adding, changing, creating and deleting files.

The biggest advantage of an external enclosure system is that it is possible to change the hard drive without any trouble if you need even more space. Besides, you don’t even need to open up the old machine to make any changes.

Building a Computer from Scratch can be Great Fun

May 12, 2008 in Computer

Building a Computer from Scratch can be Great Fun

If you are planning to build a computer from scratch, you have to make a selection of the components which you intend using for it. There are a list of components which include the CPU, the Motherboard, RAM, hard drives, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, CDRW, floppy disk, cards for video, sound and network, the modem, the case, the power supply and the operating system.

You should start with the processor; choose a well-known one, checking out its price and performance. Decide then which motherboard you can use with the processor that you have chosen. Many websites can give you help in making this choice.

From the two major types of hard drives, the IDE drives and the SCSI drives, the IDE drives are commonly used. When choosing your hard drive the speed is of prime importance. Take the biggest cache size and the largest storage amount that your budget allows. Choose the motherboard according to the interface specifications of your hard drives.

The choice of the motherboard also determines what kind of RAM you can use. Your choice of cards comes after that and some of the fastest video cards may have problems with some motherboards. Try and get the fastest CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and CDRW drives. If you need to copy frequently from CD to a CDRW drive, it is better to have two drives, that is, one drive for CD/DVD ROM and the other one for CDRW.

Choose a sound card which matches your real needs. There are very fancy and fast ones available in the market, but if you are never going to use them, don’t invest in them. Get a good and reliable Network card.

The Memory chip that you use should also be compatible with your motherboard. It is relatively easy to install the memory on the motherboard, because there are usually instructions with a photo for installing.

You can buy an external modem or have one which has a controller. If you have a controllerless modem, all your outgoing and incoming data is processed by your CPU. In the bargain it slows down your PC and is often less reliable.

Ensure that high quality power supply is available; otherwise none of the processes will function properly. It is always recommended to buy material from well-known manufacturers. Also you should ask around and see the experiences of the people around you, especially the specific items which are of interest for you.

You should also think about the type of case you want, should it be a desktop, a mini tower, a mid tower or a full tower? And if you are putting together a computer of your own choice now, make it upgradeable for all future hardware.

Choosing a Monitor which is Slim and Flat

May 12, 2008 in Computer

Choosing a Monitor which is Slim and Flat

To choose a monitor that is right for you obviously includes the right screen size, the right screen resolution and the accessories that come with it. Whether you are choosing a monitor for yourself, your family or your business, you must keep in mind what features are important for you.

The large and heavy monitors which have dominated the monitor market in the last decade have been replaced today by the slim, light-weight flat-screen monitors. The slim monitors are good for the eyes and besides taking up less space can also operate at lower temperatures. The slim ones are the LCD monitors, which have completely no problem with the flickering screens any more.

The flat screen design is also anti glare and provides ultimate comfort while watching movies and using the Internet. Just working on the computer for presentations and spreadsheets is a pleasure. Some LCD monitors are also HDTV ready.

The most common and practical sizes for families, home business operators and students are 17 and 19 inches. But you will have to decide about the size of the monitor, because that will depend upon the purpose of your PC and the space available for the monitor. If your work includes creating and running spreadsheets or graphic designing, then a large screen may be useful for you. If you are mainly interested in watching movies and multimedia gaming, a larger screen would be better.

The 30-inch type or larger are some of the largest monitors on the market today. If you buy an LCD monitor of this size, it will cost a fortune. Actually a 17-inch monitor is good enough, if you use your computer only to type documents or surf the Internet.

Once you have decided on the size of the monitor, the right resolution is the next important consideration. It is important for you to decide the number of pixels that make up the actual screen viewing area. A normal 19-inch model delivers a clear and sharp picture for all regular activities. But if you have a higher definition monitor, you may want a greater number of pixels for higher color resolution.

Just add the accessories to your monitor to enjoy your computing experience. Use good PC speakers for perfect audio performance for games, movies and videos on the Internet. You can add video cards too to improve the overall graphic and gaming performance.

I actually use a 24″ LDC Samsung monitor with a resolution of 1920 PX by 1200 PX and it works great and larger monitors are much more reasonable today then even a couple of years ago. The only issue I have is that the screen is so wide that it takes time to scan from side to side if it is too close.

Steps to Follow in Making your Computer Hardware Quicker

May 12, 2008 in Computer

Steps to Follow in Making your Computer Hardware Quicker

In order to make your computer Hardware quicker, it is easy to buy additional hardware and install it in your computer. But if you do not want to make this added purchase, there are certain suggestions which can be made to make your computer run faster.

First of all you should run the Disk Defragmenter regularly; it could be monthly, so that the response time can be speeded up. This response relates to the search of the computer in the hard disk for piecing together fragmented files. The program defrags and consolidates fragmented files.

If there are errors in the disk, detect and repair them immediately. The bad sectors in the hard disk reduce the performance and with the result data writing may even become impossible. Windows, for example, has a built-in tool called the Error Checking utility. This tool has the power to search the hard disk for system errors and bad sectors, and repair them instantly.

If you disable the indexing services on your computer, the speed definitely increases. Indexing services are through the CPU, and every time you search for a file, the whole index list has to be scanned. You can easily disable the system service, if you know where to find your files.

You don’t have to display all the items and effects, because it costs you system resources. You can easily disable most of the settings and choose the few which you use frequently. You can also disable performance counters and optimize your pagefile. If you set a fixed size to your pagefile, the operating system does not have to resize it.

Also, remove the speed fonts. Leave only the ones you need to use regularly. Just move them to a temporary directory, so that you can always bring them back whenever you need any of them.

An ideal way to increase the performance of your computer is to install additional RAM memory. It can help you to run many applications and you can access data also quicker. If you do a Boot Defragment, you can speed up the startup and the system will start faster.

If you install an antivirus and antispyware programs, it can immediately be a hindrance to any sort of viruses and innumerable ads coming in all the time. Hence in order to optimize your computer for peak performance just clean up all disk errors, remove temporary files and rearrange your data. If all these conditions are fulfilled, it will enable your Internet Explorer to run faster than before.

Virus protection: Prevention better than Cure

May 12, 2008 in Computer

Virus protection: Prevention better than Cure

Just as computers and Internet have become a part of everyday life, their protection from viruses has become an integral part of software sophistication. Virus protection need not be expensive, because there is anti-virus software available with many companies at reasonable rates and sometimes even free

Even though there is a lot of free software and services available, it is important to follow some basic do’s and don’ts for computer and Internet use to keep them safe from viruses. The most important thing is to stay up-to-date as far as anti-virus software is concerned. Renew the subscription before it expires, because viruses could take advantage of the lapse.

Other things like your browser, email clients and your operating system should also be kept up-to-date. By using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Windows Update and Office Update you can be sure to update your security system on time.

But most of the time viruses are encouraged by Internet users, because they open emails just out of curiosity, knowing very well that the email identity is unknown. Often the attachment comes with the virus infection, so it is important to be smart to keep the computer safe and free from viruses. This use of a little common sense can go a long way towards virus protection.

It is also advisable not to visit hacker sites, or sites which offer pirated software or which promise software keys to break the law. These sites are not safe for your computer and viruses find an easy way to your computer just by opening the sites. Of course good anti-virus software should definitely be used, even if all the precautions are taken.

Since all viruses use the flaws and features of Microsoft products, it is best to use alternative software like email programs and web browsers as a safeguard against viruses. Mozilla and Linux are the two most popular companies for both web browsers and mails. All viruses cannot be prevented by such non-Microsoft operating systems, but they will definitely prevent infection through the common viruses.

Some of the anti-virus software can be installed on the computer and it provides protection and scanning all the time. The other type of product is in the form of online tools, and with their help it is possible to check whether any virus infection is there. The second type of product should not be the only anti-virus solution used in a computer, because it can be effectively used to check the main anti-virus software. It is better to prevent the infection, because once the infection has invaded the hardware, it may do irreparable harm to the data.
