Research on HHO’s, Run Your Car on Water

Jul 04, 2008 in Automotive / Vehicle, Green

Hello All:

I have been researching the information on Run Your Car on Water.

In fact I have been selling decals to people who have been making these items for their own vehicles. ( http://stores.ebay.ca/Beauty-in-Design_Hybrid-Energy-Green-Decals_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ21294879QQftidZ1QQtZkm )

I asked one person about their thoughts and did it really work.

He had a Lincoln Navagator and mentioned he used the charged water vaporizer system in his vehicle. Before he was getting 17 mpg and when he started using the charged water system ( found in the water4gas.com manuals ) his mileage went up to 30 mpg I thought WOW what a change.

So now I can say yes they work.

Here is a list of do it yourself manuals that could help you to extend your fuel mileage:

Bryan

Fast Facts On Potatoes

Jun 06, 2008 in Green

Fast Facts On Potatoes

Throughout America, potatoes are the most popular
vegetable, even being ahead of other well known
vegetables such as lettuce and onions. You can
cook potatoes in a variety of ways, and they are
included in one out of three meals eaten by almost
all Americans. When they are prepared in a healthy
way, a potato can be an excellent source of energy
and also pack a nutritional punch.

Like oranges, potatoes are very high in vitamin C.
The fact is, one medium potato contains 45% of the
vitamin C that’s recommended for good health.
Potatoes are also high in fiber and carbohydrates
and contain more potassium than a banana.

A potato is naturally low in calories and contains
no fat, sodium, or cholesterol. The skins of the
potatoes provide a helpful dose of fiber, iron,
potassium, calcium, zinc, phosphorus, and several
B vitamins.

You can prepare potatoes by boiling them, steaming
them, or even roasting them. If at all possible,
you should avoid putting potatoes in the refrigerator
or freezing them, as cold will turn the potato
starch to sugar and cause them to turn dark when
they are cooked.

When you store potatoes, keep them in a cool, dark
place. Too much light will cause them to turn green.
You can store them in the basement if you have
one, as the basement is the best place to keep
potatoes.

From mashed potatoes to baked potatoes, a potato
is something we all know and love. They serve
many different tasty foods, and they provide our
bodies with plenty of healthful benefits. We all
eat potatoes, some of us even grow our own. Whether
you grow your on or buy them, the potato is
the one vegetable that makes everything just a
little bit better.

When Oil Hits $200 a Barrel, What Can We do to Offset the Costs?

May 21, 2008 in Green

When Oil Hits $200 a Barrel, What Can We do to Offset the Costs?

Today I was listening to the news on the radio and low and behold a report was given on the rise of a barrel of oil and that within about 1 year it could hit $200.00 per barrel.

When I picked up my heart from off the floor I thought of what could I do to alleviate the erosion of my spending money since at that price it would almost be none existent.

I was talking to a friend today and he mentioned that he filled up his van and car plus got a bit of gas for his lawnmower and guess how much he paid? $150.00 and if oil goes to $200.00 per barrel that would rise to $250.00 – $300.00 now where is there going to be enough money to feed a family. I imagine gardens are going to become very popular again, energy efficient vehicles and alternative energy.

There are a number of conservation techniques that we can do to help save some money.

  • Insulate your home so it is more efficient by reducing heat in the summer so you use less air conditioning and by stopping drafts in the winter it reduces the need for heat.
  • Eat at home – This is a bit odd isn’t it. Think of the energy it takes to go out. By eating at home during the winter the stove adds heat to the house.
  • Plan your trips to make the best use of your car.
  • Ride a bicycle or walk to work if you can.
  • Make sure your tire pressure is correct for the tires on your vehicle.
  • Um, I know you like to drive like the wind since you are always running behind but if you drive the speed limit you will save.
  • Here is a tip I never thought of since most cars these days have computers to tell you and your engine almost everything then controls your engine if you always change gas stations for the cheapest fuel you may find that your gas mileage will fluctuate. If you use the same gas station all the time you may find that your gas mileage actually goes up.
  • Keep your vehicle tuned up
  • Use synthetic oil with your equipment, vehicles and lawnmowers.
  • Don’t idle your car for more than two minutes. This one also helps the environment.
  • If you are in a windy place why not look into a wind generator.
  • If you are in a sunny place why not consider solar energy.
  • If you have old energy hogs like an old refrigerator replace them with energy star appliances.
  • Have you ever thought of inline hot water heaters? Why not take a look at how much energy and water you will be saving.

When looking for some alternatives to boost your gas mileage have you ever thought of using water as something to give you better mileage. (Better kilometers per liter for those who are metric).

Here is a list of do it yourself manuals that can help you to extend your fuel mileage:

  • Run Your Car With Water – www.runyourcarwithwater.com
  • fueltrips.com
  • water4gas.com – Possible one of the most popular
  • drivewithwaterfuel.com
  • makeahybrid.com

Non-Toxic Living for the New Millennium

May 14, 2008 in Green

Non-Toxic Living for the New Millennium

The thinning of the ozone and global warming is not mere propaganda of the environmentalists. It is something real and should be of great concern to all. But whether you believe this warning or not, though gravely necessary that you do, is immaterial as long as you are ready and willing to help in the crusade for an environmentally safe world, towards a non-toxic living for our children and the generations to come. As an initial move to start the ball rolling, you can initiate a 7-step program to help citizens of the world live a. non-toxic living. This seven step program will go a long way to keep the environment safe and free from being littered by environmental pollutants.

Attending to these seven step program will not only guarantee a healthy and non-toxic living lifestyle but also will help you boost your savings on spending.

Step One: Turn off the Lights

Turning off the lights when not in use is a beneficial habit that will prevent the burning of extra electricity while at the same time save on your electricity bills. This savings accumulated over the months will come up to a great deal of solid cash. At the same time, less energy need be generated for you. If everyone practices this good habit, the environment benefits a great deal in terms of fuel conservation.

Step Two: Save on Transport

As a second good step, you may consider transportation problems. If you have been using your vehicles to commute all this while, it is now high time for you to consider alternative forms of transport. Traveling in your own vehicle will cause the extra burning of fuel unnecessarily if you can travel otherwise. Traveling by public transport will help save this expensive fuel while it will at the same time save you money and energy. You can also consider riding a motorbike or bicycle or even just walking if the distance is only a couple of kilometers / miles away. For urban ‘going to office’ travel, carpooling is a viable concept.

This will save money and produce less carbon from burnt fuel. The environment will be much the better for that.

Step Three: Leftover

In order to get rid of the leftover food through simultaneously turning them into compost that can be used to fertilize your garden for free. Simply dig a good size hole and throw all the leftovers into the hole. Add chicken dung or earth rich in microorganisms and cover up with earth for a couple of weeks. The heat will turn the leftovers into compost that you can dig up to use as manure for your garden plants. With free manure, you can start growing vegetables in your garden and save money from purchasing them from stores. This is a great way to remove the unnecessary materials from the environment and assist in creating a non-toxic living environment for you and your loved ones.

Step Four: Recycle

There are of course leftovers that cannot be turned into compost (tin cans, bottles and plastic products). For these you can consider recycling. Collect them in different cases or large plastic bags. You can take these collected items to recycling shops and sell them there. You will earn money by doing these recycling exercises while at the same time keep the environment clean and healthy. You will be surprised by how much you can earn from old newspapers, tin cans, plastic materials and glass bottles that you normally discard and leave lying around your house compound and turn them into breeding places for mosquitoes. Recycling these products will help keep your compound clean and disqualify all the rubbish from becoming sickness dens. This is an another great tip on non-toxic living.

Step Five: Biodiesel Fuel

Buying a vehicle that runs on biodiesel and gives a good mileage is also a step in the right direction. Apart from saving money on maintenance, you will be consuming less fuel which means less drainage on the world fuel supply that is gradually dwindling and fetching an ever spiraling price.

Step Six: Reusable

To ensure that the store uses fewer plastic and paper bags that eventually will be discarded and littering the environment, you can use reusable cloth bags for grocery shopping. This will reduce the demand for plastic and paper bags and lower production of the products. Lowering production will cause a chain reaction with a net result of a total great overall savings in fuel and energy related to production. This is another great way to produce non-toxic living environment for yourself and your family

Step Seven: Donate Money

The final and seventh step of the program will really require your contribution and commitment towards bringing about an environmentally clean and healthy lifestyle not only for you, your generation but also, more importantly, for the generation to come. Generously donate money to a local or federal conservation society. It is important we sustain our natural resources before they run out. Conservation societies protect wetlands, natural habitats, forests and nature, so vital for prolonged survival of the species on earth. These societies need your help and contribution to be effective, and, there is nothing nobler than to support these societies to ensure you a non toxic living for yourself, your family and the coming generations.

Non-Toxic Living: What are Biodegradable Materials

May 14, 2008 in Green

Non-Toxic Living: What are Biodegradable Materials:

The term biodegradable has been widely misunderstood and as a result also widely misused both by manufacturers of products as well as consumers of the products.

Biodegradable refers to the capacity of an organic substance to be broken down by the biological action of microorganisms into the materials of nature and disappear into the environment. Nature biodegrades everything it makes back into the basic building blocks, so that new living things can be made from the old. Every resource made by nature returns to nature. Man, plants and animals biodegrade. It is a perfect system of recycling that we need to take note and learn from. If you desire a non-toxic living, free for accumulation of harmful substances, this information is crucial for you.

In order for biodegradation to occur, certain conditions must be present. Amongst them are:

(1) The nature of the substance need be taken into account,
(2) The nature of the environment also determines the biodegradation process
(3) Time is also a factor.
And (4) The volume of biodegrading materials is another determinant.

Natural organic materials can be broken down by the action of microorganism, given time and a suitable environment. Most manufactured products however cannot be broken down by bacterial action as their raw materials content that has been altered is not recognizable to microorganisms. Biodegradation may both occur in the soil or in water a long as the environment where degradation is to take place must be in the presence of enough oxygen, light, water and biological activity.

As an example soap, in any quantity is readily biodegradable in large quantities without posing any harm to the environment. Where oxygen and light is absent as in the case of the bottom of a waste dump where microorganisms may have been killed, biodegradation does not take place. Some things also take a longer time to biodegrade as compared to others, even in ideal conditions. A few months is required to biodegrade paper, rope, orange peels whereas to biodegrade leather shoes, nylon fabric and aluminum cans may take 45 to a hundred years. Glass and plastic bottles may take even a million years.

The terms ‘biodegradable’, ‘non-pollutant’ and ‘environmentally friendly’ have not been truly understood. Though they seem to be referring to the same thing yet they have little to do with each other. Biodegradable refers to the breaking down into simpler molecular forms. It has no regard for the pollutant nature of the simpler forms. A surfactant that contains phosphorous, nitrogen or toxins in its original form, would still remain active pollutants in its degraded state. As part of our collaborative efforts to build a non-toxic living environment, learning to differentiate the differences between them can make a large difference in the choice of household equipments we choose.

Saving the Planet one Piece of Paper at a Time

May 04, 2008 in Green

Saving the Planet one Piece of Paper at a Time

Today the planet is in trouble.

Billions of plastic bags fill landfill sites every year. Pollution threatens the very fabric of every ecosystem on the planet. Paper, batteries, pens and paperclips all cause problems.

What can we do to help aleviate the situation?

By conservation, conserving, reducing, recycling and reusing.

When you print out some paperwork on your printer do you have blank space on the page or on the backside of the sheet when only one site is printed?

What we have been doing is to reuse the printed page making note paper from a sheet that has no sensitive material on it. If there happens to be sensitive material on the sheet of paper then it would be best to shred the sheet and then recycle the paper.

Recycle everything you can instead of putting everything you can in the trash.

One of our businesses is a ecommerce site that uses cardboard. Instead of purchasing new cardboard we go to a local grocery store that gives away their boxes. We cut up the boxes and use any appropriate sized boxes for shipping our product out and any waste from the boxes is then recycled.

It takes more time to recycle but the benefits are beyond measure especially if every one on the planet starts to save the planet one piece of paper at a time.

Please leave comments on how you are saving the planet even if it is just a piece of paper.

Sincerely,

Bryan
